Post-Doctoral Research Associates

The Center on Religion and the Global East at Purdue University invites applications for four one-year postdoctoral research positions: 
Post Doctoral Research Associate — Japanese Christianity
Post Doctoral Research Associate — Korean Christianity
Post Doctoral Research Associate — Social Survey in East Asia
Post Doctoral Research Associate — GIS and Spatial Studies

These positions start as early as July 1, 2022 and are renewable for a second year. Review of applications will begin on March 15, 2022 and will continue until the position is filled.
 
These post-doctoral positions are embedded in the funded multi-national project “Global East Religiosity and Changing Religious Landscapes,” which includes surveys of individuals, mapping religious sites, and the comparative historical studies of Christianity in East Asian societies. Each of the four positions are described in detail below.

1. Post-Doctoral Research Associate – Japanese Christianity
We are seeking an energetic and independent researcher who can help conduct research on Christianity in Japan from around 1900 until the present-day. To qualify for the position, a candidate must have completed PhD by the time of employment, and the degree may be in sociology, history, political science, geography, religious studies, or related areas. Fluency in Japanese and English are required, and knowledge of social surveys and GIS are considered advantageous.   Apply Now    

2. Post-Doctoral Research Associate – Korean Christianity
We are seeking an energetic and independent researcher who can help conduct research on Christianity in Korea from around 1900 until the present-day. To qualify for the position, a candidate must have completed PhD by the time of employment, and the degree may be in sociology, history, political science, geography, religious studies, or related areas. Fluency in Korean and English are required, and knowledge of social surveys and GIS are considered advantageous.   Apply Now    

3. Post-Doctoral Research Associate – Social Surveys in East Asia
We are seeking an energetic and independent researcher who has a strong background in quantitative analysis of social surveys. To qualify for the position, a candidate must have completed a PhD by the time of employment, and the degree may be in sociology, psychology, political science, or related areas. Demonstrated knowledge of statistics and research experience of social surveys of an East Asian society are required. 4. Post-Doctoral Research Associate – GIS and Spatial Studies
We are seeking an energetic and independent researcher who has a strong background in Geographical Information Systems (GIS), spatial statistics, and data management. To qualify for the position, a candidate must have completed a PhD by the time of employment, and the degree may be in sociology, psychology, political science, or related areas. Demonstrated knowledge of GIS and research experience of spatial studies are required. Research experience of East Asian geography is preferred.   Apply Now
