The US-China Catholic Association will host a conference on “China, Christianity, and the Dialogue of Civilizations” to take place March 13-15, 2020 on the campus of Santa Clara University. This conference will examine efforts to locate engagement between Christianity and Chinese civilization in the context of shared values and the common good. Conference organizers seek proposals for panels from potential panel conveners. Panels will address a given topic from several mutually illuminating perspectives, taking into account Catholic and other Christian experience. Panels that have already been proposed include:

As scholars of religion, we are all tasked with communicating religion in one way or another – to students, to the public, and to our research community. Moreover, what we study is itself a message: participants in our studies and creators of the documents we analyse are communicating religion, and what we receive as data is what Giddens referred to as the ‘double hermeneutic,’ or ideas and experiences that have already been mediated. The Center on Religion and Chinese Society at Purdue University invites papers that examine the relationship between Christianity and the rule of law in a Chinese society. The Society for the Scientific Study of Religion is currently accepting individual paper, topical session, and author-meets-critics proposals for our 2018 annual meeting, which will take place October 26-28 at the Tropicana Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada.  The theme of the meeting is “Religion and Power: The Creation, Reproduction and Deconstruction of Social Orders.”  The deadline to submit abstracts is March 31, 2018, and decision notifications will be made by April 30, 2018.
