DAVIDSON COLLEGE, a highly-selective, nationally-ranked, residential, four-year liberal arts college located 20 minutes north of Charlotte, North Carolina, invites applications for a one-year visiting assistant position in Sociology starting August 1, 2014.

The successful candidate will teach five courses (two Fall, three Spring), including one ethnographic research methods course (Fall), one contemporary sociological theory course (Spring), and three other courses in areas of the applicant¹s expertise. Includes mentoring senior thesis projects. New courses and potential contributions to Davidson College’s interdisciplinary programs will also be viewed favorably. Applications from PhD-holders and advanced ABDs in Sociology will be considered.  Experience teaching undergraduates is strongly preferred.

The following materials are required: letter of application (which should include a brief description of courses the applicant is prepared to offer in addition to those required); curriculum vitae; two letters of reference; sample syllabi of courses applicant is prepared to offer; and evidence of demonstrated or potential excellence in and enthusiasm for undergraduate teaching.
